SOSDF Carriers Information Session
Today, Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation hosted a Carriers Information Session.
The aim of the session was to provide an overview and gain a better understanding of what it means to be a female carrier of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Our guest speakers were Robin Forbes and Dr Louise Crowe.
Robin is a Genetic Counsellor from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and discussed the types of carriers, symptoms and testing based on her extensive experience in this field.
Louise is a Psychologist and a Research Fellow for Neuromuscular Disorders from The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Louise discussed her research regarding whether being a carrier presents additional burdens in daily activities.
