Save Our Sons Telehealth Nurse

Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation Telehealth Case Management Program

In 2018 we made it a priority to find ways to address the gaps across Australia for those living with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy, their families and carers.

The Telehealth Case Management Program is especially aimed at those adults who have transitioned to adult services and do not have the same access to the coordinated services and support in the paediatric health system.

The Telehealth Case Management Nurse position was made possible in collaboration between Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation, the Australian Government and the Centre For Community Driven Research, to help those living with Duchenne and Becker to navigate the health system, understanding standards of care, clinical trials and the NDIS.

Our telehealth Michele Cowie has 18 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in many different fields, most recently 12 years within a Critical Care Unit working collaboratively within the Intensive Care, Coronary Care and High Dependency unit. Michele will be available 25 hours a week via our designated 1300 number and email and will be able to answer questions, provide referrals and support those living with Duchenne and Becker, their families and carers.
