A message from the Founder

On Tuesday the 1st of March, I will be embarking on a 31 day walk where I will be walking 7.9kms each day. 7.9 because the Number 79 is significant for those with Duchenne. Duchenne is caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene, which has 79 exons (coding areas). Dystrophin normally protects muscle cells from damage and without it, the muscle cells deteriorate. People with Duchenne have missing exons and overtime this causes damage to muscle cells.

I will be walking at different times of the day throughout the month of March so that by the end of the month I would of covered every hour of the day. Walking at all hours of the day represents that the impact of Duchenne muscular dystrophy is 24/7 and the care required is around the clock. I will be walking with ambassadors, families affected, supporters and family and friends. Corporate teams will also be joining the walk by collectively as a team walking 79kms virtually in the month of March. We will be walking in memory of those we have lost, to give hope to the kids of today and the kids of tomorrow a better future. 

Any donation no matter how big or small, will go a long way in helping us find a cure for Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy.
